Trust Roles

 

Trust Members

Trust Members appoint the Trustees and approve any changes to the Company Articles.

Our current Articles indicate Members are the Chair and Vice-Chair at Costessey Junior School and the Vice Chair at Costessey Infant School. Additionally, there is a nomination from the LGB of Filby Primary School and the current Executive Headteacher and CEO of the East Anglia Schools Trust is also a Member.

Trust Trustees

Trust Trustees have a strategic role and delegate all but the key decisions to individual Local Governing Body (LGB) who are accountable to the Trustees. The Trustees are accountable to the ESFA and DfE.

The Trustees, meeting at least each school half term, delegate decision making and responsibility for tasks to individual LGBs via Terms of Reference. 

The Trustees are required under the rules of the ESFA Financial Handbook to receive assurances from each school that controls are operating effectively and that risks are being managed.

Local Governing Body (LGB)

Concentrating in particular on the outcomes for pupils the LGBs, operating through the Terms of Reference, assist in holding each school to account.

LGBs comprise staff members, parent members and community members and each is appointed by the Trustees for the skills they will bring to that LGB.

LGBs  are typically made up of approximately 9 volunteers to ensure efficient working practices. The membership of each LGB is listed on the Our Schools page on this website.

 

Business and Pecuniary Interests

Members, Trustees and LGB members are all required to complete business interest forms on an annual basis and disclose any interests at the commencement or appropriate point in any meeting.
