A junior school’s pupils have had a brush with fame after three visiting Norwich City players were joined by cameras from the BBC’s flagship football show.

Match of the Day were at Costessey Junior School as Sebastien Bassong, Steven Naismith and Nathan Redmond as part of the Canaries’ Fit4Schools programme.

They put the children through their paces with a range of activities.

Tony Hull, chief executive of Evolution Academy Trust, of which the school is a member, said their visit was an ideal way to motivate pupils.

“It’s not an everyday thing but when you get a visit like this, the excitement for the children is tremendous and something they really remember,” he said.

The Fit4Schools programme also gives children advice on healthy diets and other lifestyle choices.

What a pity someone cannot visit Colney to put the players through their paces and teach them something about the playing of the game. Maybe the children from the junior school might find the time!
